I’ve had a couple of emails from people with teen and pre-teen children asking whether it is possible to bring them along to the ChangeCamp event.
I understand that some people might want to bring their kids along (especially if childcare is difficult to arrange). I’m sorry to say that I can’t allow children to attend ChangeCamp for the following reasons:
- ChangeCamp is an event for adults. The topics are designed for adults, the presenters and other attendees are expecting to be with other adults and engage in adult conversations.
- We have no facilities, or people, for looking after children at the event.
- In the current climate looking after children and managing their personal safety is a tricky business with legal requirements and complications that I really don’t want to get into. Running ChangeCamp as an event for adults is more than complicated enough.
- I imagine that most of what goes on a ChangeCamp is going to be of very little interest to most children or teenagers.
So, for all these reasons, I would ask you not to bring your children to the event. I’m sorry if that stops you from attending and I hope you’ll understand why I’ve made this decision.
If you have already booked a ticket in the hopes that you could bring your children let me know and I’ll give you a refund.
