Presentation: Understanding and Developing Your Emotional Intelligence

Are you working on your Emotional Intelligence (EI) skills? No! Then this workshop could be for you. Research has shown that people with high levels of emotional intelligence enjoy more satisfying wellbeing, careers and relationships. If you wish to enhance your ability to perceive emotions, access and generate emotions to assist thought and emotional knowledge, the workshop is for you.

EI is separate to IQ (Intelligent Quotient). IQ measures human intelligence from standard tests. Psychologists argue IQ does not take in other forms of intelligence, for example, EI.

The public became conscious of EI in 1995 when journalist scientist Daniel Goleman published a book entitled Emotional Intelligence, although psychologists have been studying behaviours, feelings and motives of other people for many years.

Goleman set out five emotional skill areas:

  1. Self-awareness.
  2. Self-regulation.
  3. Social skills.
  4. Empathy.
  5. Motivation.

These five skills will be covered throughout the workshop. Oh! And laughter and humour improves your emotional intelligence! Just in case you want to join my Laughter Yoga Workshop at the end of the day”.
