Presentation: Pain, Pain (psychological), Pain – And Relief?

You do feel pain, we all do. Be it physical or psychological we all feel pain. What you want to know is how to go from pain to relief … right?

If you are suffering emotional, physical pain or both this may be a useful workshop for you. Also if you are working with people with pain, you may discover some useful additions for your work.

I was approached in January to be a speaker / demonstrator on a well known ‘Pain Conference’ and I agreed with this stipulation : “I don’t know what I will do on the day with a specific client.”

This didn’t go down well because I was being asked to provide a specific protocol or set of steps to work with anyone. I don’t work one to one like that. If I work with you, you are an individual and your pain and relief will really not fit into a specific bed of tricks. Think Procrustes.

Procrustes was a Greek villain. He liked to either cut the feet or head off anyone that was too big for his bed; He was an inn keeper. Or if you were too small, liked to stretch you out to fit. One size fits all!

When working with pain, its important to remember your are working with a fellow human being and not be fixed to a specific process or another, although there are some very good processes out there.

This CC presentation will explore a variety of ways of potentially changing a
painful experience. Painful here defined as emotionally, physically or both.

Presentation: Resilience Is Dead

ResilienceA completely overrated presentation where you will gain nothing!

I am going to suggest that many people, including myself harbour two things. One is problems, the other is desires.

Nothing wrong with either. It’s just the way of life. But when either one or both of these two become an irritant there really are issues.

In this workshop I want to suggest and do something about the obvious. This is what we know in our bones, what is wrong, what causes problems. The other obvious bit is that instead of taking another course, instead of reading another book, instead of joining another class … we consider the exact opposite.

If you. like me, occasionally get overly attached to what is being portrayed in the news, on television or with the good opinions of others, this may be for you … if you are honestly OK with letting stuff go. As in making a commitment to stop wasting and giving away your precious life energy to rubbish, this overrated workshop may be for you.

We live in an age where a maximally intolerant minority are dictating how a tolerant majority lives. Opinions on social media, television and the like, can inflame my sensibilities where almost every day I am reading something about cultural appropriation, anti-this, and, that-a-phobic, where free speech and your thoughts are being shaped to be suppressed. Everyone else knows what is best for you!

This workshop is about discovering, what are the persistent irritants in your life and making a commitment to reducing, subtracting or removing the persistent goo that is stuck on your shoes, the kind you can continue to take into your home again and again.

Workshop Covering

  • Via Negativa (Nassim Nicholas Taleb) or what is wrong in your life
  • Self Sabotage or some other irritant
  • Guided Visualisation on reductionism

This is completely overrated and you won’t be taking anything away from this workshop.

I hope you can help? As a participant of this workshop, I want to share some ideas and exercises that when practiced will make you happier.

My request for you is to share these ideas and exercises with people in your life. My idea is sharing what easily makes us happier will in a small way make the world a better place. Thank you!

Workshop Details
Many people often feel unhappy and more often than not this is not a good thing. Why not? We are habit making organisms who’s habits are constructed over time. We are massively influenced by our environment and how we react and respond to this.

By understanding a little bit about the differences between memory and experience ( Daniel Kahneman ) and utilising what and how we use our bodies consciously, and this is the key, conscious effort, just a few minutes a day, can change our complete outlook, to rewire thoughts and thinking patterns is amazing.

Did you know while reading this you have either shaked your head yes or no, in considering this information? Those who have nodded agreement, within this short description, are most likely to attend. How we physically respond to a suggestion is one topic of this workshop. Another topic is how we focus attention, so that means prioritising what is valuable in the moment.

Hope to see you here.

Presentation: Understanding and Dealing with Anxiety & Worry

It’s perfectly normal and natural to experience worry and anxiety. We all have such thoughts and emotions from time to time.

It’s no surprise at all many people today and every day feel anxious. Read or listen to the news and we can feel we are continuously bombarded with threats and stark realities about the NHS, Brexit, terrorists and having to work into our eighties to reap a state pension that we have paid into all our lives. It can feel like our personal power, choice and control of situations belongs to someone else.

A great deal of most ‘news’ is aimed at activating our fear response. Why? it sells papers and is psychologically aimed at our human propensity to be more focused on bad events.

We will explore what the differences are between anxiety and worry and how we can know which is which. We will continue on to develop simple and effective ways to lessen troublesome emotions with things that we can all do, with the intention to make better habits for ourselves and the people around us who are either effected or affect our emotional state.

Maybe a little AHA! moment, maybe something even more powerful.  This workshop may well be your AHA! That is your ticket, that you own,  to get out of the trap perpetuated by the Weight Loss Industry.

This workshop will offer a perspective where participants will have the information and knowledge to change a damaging perception that has been indoctrinated into our culture.

Also on offer are the psychological determinants that can keep you on the right track. Your right track.  If this sounds too simple, it’s because it is!

So, how would you like to create a deep motivation to get and maintain a healthy weight balanced with some cutting facts about the Weight Loss Industry.
