Presentation: What Are Your Signature Strengths?

Signature strengths are the things we like doing and are good at.

We find more happiness and satisfaction in our life if it is aligned with our signature strengths.

  • Which of the 24 signature strengths are in your top 5 and how well do you use them?
  • Are there strengths you wish you had and wondered how you can develop them?
  • Do you recognise these strengths in others and encourage them to use them effectively?

From playfulness to optimism, and, bravery to love of learning and finding awe and wonder in the beauty around us, these strengths impact on our everyday lives.

If you want to find out what your highest strengths are, visit the University of Pennsylvania and take the VIA Character Strengths questionnaire

Bring your results along to the workshop (I will have some paper based versions available on the day too).

This workshop is based on the work of Martin Seligman (author of Authentic Happiness and Flourish) and others involved in the developing science of Applied Positive Psychology and will be of interest for personal development and working with others.

Confidence is such a fragile state that can be shattered without realising what we have said or done. Having the resilience to bounce back from negative events or comments builds an inner strength and develops self-esteem.

Come along to this workshop if you are curious about strategies for building self-esteem in children and young adults.

Of course, they will all work for adults too!

Presentation: The Stories We Tell

An ‘identity’ workshop from Life Clubs

Stories have been told from the beginning of time – from ancient cave paintings to oral traditions of poetry to European minstrels and writers, as well as Middle Eastern Sufis and scribes, no culture is without their lineage of storytellers.

What we are going to focus on is the way stories bring new energy and perspectives to understanding yourself and your problems.

Perhaps you’ve never thought of yourself as a storyteller before. However, storytelling is such an integral part of being human we barely notice it. It’s everywhere, from the blogs we write to the gossip columns we read and the television we watch. Or even the gossip that flies around the office and round your family.

You might even find that the story you are telling about your life is just that – a story. This workshop will enable you to recognise the story you tell yourself and others. And, of course, the wonderful thing about stories is that you can change the script.

This workshop is one of 50 (with more being added all the time) from Life Clubs. Life Clubs run weekly across the country and focus on a different aspect of the Life Puzzle each session leading to a clearer way of thinking.
