Presentation: Myers Briggs Personality Types

Myers-Briggs personality Type theory helps us to understand many of the normal, natural differences in personality between individuals.

Inspired by the work of Carl Jung from the early 20th century the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) has since been developed to become the most widely used personality inventory in the world.

This session acts as a general introduction to understanding Type, addressing some of the misconceptions that people may have about this fascinating area.

It will also touch on the application of Type for each of us to realise and empower our unique developmental path through life.

With explanations of theory, backed up by personal examples, the goal of this session is to give you a broad framework of understanding how our Type preferences help shape individual personality and functional development on a deep level.

Presentation: An Introduction To Releasing Trauma With EFT

In this presentation Andy Hunt will introduce you to Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) an unconventional approach to softening negative emotions.

An approach that is: safe, effective, surprisingly comfortable  and easy to learn.

In this workshop he will explain:

  • The basics of EFT or “tapping” technique.
  • The reasons some memories are traumatic and how a system that was designed to keep you safe may work against you.
  • How EFT can be used to gently take the pain out of traumatic memories of all sorts, so that a traumatic memory can become just a memory.
  • Why taking the sting out of traumatic memories can have unexpected benefits in your life.

No prior experience of EFT is required and all the learning examples for the EFT will be easy and comfortable.

You don’t need to bring any traumatic memories with you to benefit from this presentation.

Presentation: S T R E S S – Anxiety and Depression

Each of everyone of our lives is touched to a greater or lesser extent with stress.

What is fascinating is that no two people respond to stressors in exactly the same way.

Excess stress can cause all kinds of physical and psychological problems.

We will explore the links between anxiety, depression and stress along with some ways to have a more adaptable stress responses for personal wellbeing.

Presentation: An Introduction to Core Transformation

The Core Transformation process is a gentle and organic way of healing unresolved problems by accessing one’s internal core state, imbuing the problem with that core state and thus changing and transforming the nature of the original problem or issue.

It is useful for transforming unwanted behaviours, like smoking, eating disorders, excessive drinking or other addictions.  It enhances a sense of well being and self confidence and can enhance relationships and resolve conflicts.  It offers success in transforming troublesome, chronic conditions where other forms of treatment have failed.

I will facilitate and guide you through the beginnings of the Core Transformation process, so you can experience first hand the potential it has for healing. I look forward to sharing my knowledge of Core Transformation with you and assisting you in making changes to your life.

Presentation: The Emmett Technique for Psychological Well Being

The Emmett Technique it is used to address pain and discomfort, improve body movement and can restore a positive emotional state.

In this presentation Andy Webb, Emmett Therapist, will present ways of using this technique to work on psychological issues and help you become more grounded.

Important

Because there are only 12 spaces available in this workshop there will be two presentations of during the afternoon.

There will be no admittance to the workshop for people who have not booked in advance.

Presentation: Solution Focused Brief Therapy

Solution-focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) takes a particular interest in what’s working people’s lives, as opposed to what isn’t. This information often helps people to work out how to change the parts of their lives that aren’t running so well. The most specific definition of the approach is attributed to Steve deShazer and Insoo Kim Berg. Along with colleagues, in 1978, they established the Brief Therapy Centre in Milwaukee, US.

From the outset they committed themselves to a combination of practice, training and research. By 1984 their publications spoke of a shift away from previous approaches, emphasising a solution-building rather than problem focused approach, and a recognition that service users could often create their own strategies for change. Several tools were found to operate like “skeleton keys”, unlocking a process of problem resolution across a wide variety of difficulties.

The workshop will cover the theoretical under-pinnings of the approach, video excerpts to show how the main techniques work in practice and opportunities to try them out.

The workshop will introduce participants to the main assumptions and some of the questions used in the approach through a mixture of presentation and experiential exercises.

John Wheeler is a UKCP Registered Systemic Psychotherapist who has worked in child mental health for over 30 years. John has delivered training in the Solution

Focused approach to a wide range of practitioners in the UK and abroad since 1993 and is an external lecturer to several professional courses in the North East. John has written over twenty papers and chapters for publication and runs a regional network for practitioners using SFBT.
