I am a Finnish hypnotherapist, NLP practitioner and counsellor living in Newcastle with my half Geordie/ half Greek man and the children. During my journey, I have learnt that like my own family, the life is a mix with a little bit of this and a little bit of that. And it can be ok.
I am passionate of and love using my skills to help other people on any parts of their life journey. I work as a part-time college counsellor at a college for young adults who are on an autism spectrum. I also help and work privately offering NLP and hypnotherapy services through my own business, Northern Lighthouse Therapy.
I grew up in the countryside in Finland during the 80’s. My inner experiencing when young was often an itchy mix of being both shyly introvert, uncomfortable in being me with others and excitable extrovert who gravitated towards experiencing and
connecting with people around me.
The awareness of my contradictions sparked my wish to learn more about ‘being human’. I studied psychology, comparative religion and archaeology at the Helsinki University. Also working at a theatre, building site, psychiatric hospital and doing archaeological fieldwork etc. have all granted different viewpoints on my favourite topic ‘human’.
In 2000, I did my Masters Degree in archaeology at the Newcastle University. I was offered a job and chose to ‘stay only for a bit to have an adventure’. But life happened and changed my plans. Newcastle became my home.
Whenever taking a step, we tend not to know where that chosen direction will eventually lead. But as we have all arrived, in our own ways, every step must have somehow equipped and led us to the next one. I have worked as a counsellor since 2008 and love being able to help others while they are taking steps forward on their journey.
